Okay okay okay... when I was thirteen I went to an all girls catholic school. They were very strict about what we wore. We had uniforms. A skirt and a top that costs
Anyway that Christmas my sister got a box of chocolates tied up with a red ribbon from her Godmother. She very nicely gave each of us one chocolate. She made sure all six of us understood we only got one, so I asked her if I could have the red ribbon. Then I asked my mom for 2 bells and I sewed them to the ends of the ribbon.
The next morning I wore them in my hair to school, sooo Christmassy. I was jingling all the way. Until...
I passed a rotund nun. She grabbed my ribbon and tore it and a chunk of my hair off of my head.
"You BRAZEN HUSSY!" She shouted. Then she went on for 5 minutes about my morals and how I had no humility. She gave me detention and made me late for class.
When I finally got home it was dark. But I got an idea. I asked my mom for two more bells and I sewed them under my uniform near the hem.
The next day I came jingling down the hallway right passed the same sainted sister.
"STOP! WHO HAS THOSE BELLS?" She shouted.
"Bells?" I said (jingle jingle)
"I don't hear any bells, sister." I said twirling around. (Jingle jingle jingle)
“Are you hearing bells?” I asked. (Jingle, jingle)
I winked at my five friends and they backed me up.
"No, we didn't hear any bells, sister." They looked around confused as I jingled.
As soon as we turned the corner, they rushed me.
"Where are the bells?" They whispered.
I turned over my hem.
The next day the school halls were jingling with 5 more bells. By the end of the week the bells were under practically every uniform.
Suddenly, there was a special announcement.
"OKAY... ITS BEEN FUN, BUT THERE WILL BE NO MORE BELLS BEGINNING MONDAY OR THE WHOLE LOT OF YOU WILL GET A WEEKS DETENTION."
AND why am I telling you this?
Well, that was my inspiration for sewing bells in my doll Christmas dresses this year. All of them have bells, sooooooooo Christmassy.
